About Our College

Sri Manakula Vinayagar Nursing College was founded in 2007 by Shri. M. Dhanasekaran, a philanthropist who had the vision to enhance the quality of nursing education in Puducherry. At the time, there were very few good nursing colleges in Puducherry and the quality of care in hospitals was suffering. Shri. M. Dhanasekaran wanted to change that and he founded SMVNC to provide high-quality nursing education to students.

Shri. M. Dhanasekaran was also committed to empowering women and he believed that nursing was a great profession for women. He wanted to give women the opportunity to get a good education and to have a career in nursing. SMVNC has been very successful in achieving these goals and it is now one of the leading nursing colleges in Puducherry.

His vision and tireless efforts paved the way for the establishment of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Nursing College which has produced hundreds of skilled professionals, i.e. female and male nurses with bachelor and master degree. They serve not only in our country but also across the globe.

Shri. M. Dhanasekaran believed that nurses have a responsibility to help those who are less fortunate. He felt that nurses should share their knowledge of health with people who do not have access to it. This would help to make people healthier and happier, and it would also help them to earn a living.

Shri. M. Dhanasekaran belief is based on the understanding that health is not just the absence of disease. It is also about having the knowledge and resources to live a healthy life. Nurses can play a vital role in helping people to achieve this by providing them with health education.

SMVN has made a significant impact on the lives of people in Kalitheerthalkuppam. Before SMVN was established, the village was remote and it was difficult for people to get medical help. People had to travel miles to the nearest hospital, which could take hours or even days. This often meant that people died before they could get the medical care they needed.

SMVN has changed all that. The college has a well-equipped hospital that provides immediate medical help to people in the village. The hospital also has a team of highly qualified doctors and nurses who are dedicated to providing excellent treatment. This has made a huge difference in the lives of people in Kalitheerthalkuppam.

Thanks to SMVN, people in the village no longer have to travel miles to get medical help. They can get the care they need right at their doorstep. This has saved many lives and it has improved the quality of life for everyone in the village.

SMVN has proved itself to be an exceptional centre of Medical education by producing a number of university gold medalists from the time of its inception which is an assertion that the education imparted is of high quality by competent and efficient faculty.

Nursing is the Nobel profession in health professions and plays a crucial role in determining National Health Outcome. Nurses sacrifice their life to serve the mankind. They have the qualities of simpleness, humbleness, trustworthy etc.

Our Sri Manakula Vinayagar Nursing College was established in the year 2007. The College offers Basic B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing Programmes. The college is affiliated to Pondicherry University, Puducherry. We focus on the holistic personality development of the students by not only concentrating on academics also involving them in co-curricular & extracurricular activities. We are committed to inculcate strong moral and ethical values for our students which are essential for our Nursing Profession.

During their course of study, students participate in diverse learning activities to develop an understanding of the art and science of nursing. With state of the art simulation and skill labs, students engage in experiential learning that prepares them to become a leader in the field of health.
